Medan, 20 October 2025 — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the Presentation Ceremony of the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology regarding the Promotion of Academic Rank to Professor for several lecturers within the university. The event took place on Monday, 20 October 2025, at the Senate Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, USU Rectorate Building, and was attended by the Rector, university leadership, and Deans from various faculties at USU.
During the ceremony, the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., officially presented the Ministerial Decree to the lecturers who have successfully achieved the highest academic rank of Professor. These lecturers have been declared to have fulfilled all academic, professional, and administrative requirements set by the ministry.
The conferment of the academic title of Professor serves as a recognition of the outstanding achievements of the lecturers in the fields of education, research, and community service. The title not only reflects a high level of academic excellence but also signifies a greater responsibility in advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to the development of higher education.
The evaluation process for the promotion to Professor was carried out through a rigorous and transparent mechanism. The assessment involved an independent panel of experts, taking into consideration international scientific publications, contributions to the advancement of their respective fields, and active involvement in academic and community engagement.
With the increasing number of Professors within USU, the university is expected to further strengthen its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in Indonesia.
